We walked along the street to our hotel but spent most of our time going through this area in the S-Bahn station. It's like a shopping mall with a transit system that runs through it. Very easy street and station to get around.

The street has a long history going back to before the second World War. It was home to Checkpoint Charlie during the cold war and the Fiedrichstadt Palast theater is located on it. It is now a major shopping and cultural destination in Berlin. The...More

We stayed in a hotel near the Station at the north end of the street. It's very central, the main North South artery and very convenient for transport, shopping and all public services, together with most of the large Humboldt University. Some fine architecture and...More

This is the major North-South avenue through central Berlin. It crosses several neighborhoods and the center of town. Lots of shopping and eating and some interesting architecture.

We enjoyed our day in Berlin walking up and down Friedrichstrasse with its shops, cafes and bars. Similar to many large shopping streets in any Capital City this one has a great feel as its very wide and grand.

Ok so this was described as Berlin’s Fifth avenue but I think not! It’s an interesting area, with some brand shops and a La Fayette. Most interesting is the chocolate store but otherwise I cannot see how this street compares to other major cities, certainly...More

Yes it's a historic Berlin boulevard, once the epicenter of the "Cabaret Mile" and, later the focal north-west axis of downtown East Berlin. But honestly .. now, it's more like a road that you will accidentally travel down as you move from one tourist site...More

This street has significance during the East/West Berlin divide yet in its current form there are lots of shopping to be done here, good restaurants, cafes and bars as well as excellent transport links, so good quality hotels in the area (see pics). Once upon...More

This is an upmarket street with fancy shops. Worth a look if you are in the area but not my kind of place.

This is a very central shopping street in the middle of the city. While I understand the enthusiasm from the street from shoppers, I cannot say I share the same feelings, as we found it to be rather ordinary and highly overrated.

Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can
both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central
neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the
1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around
Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s,
rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a
carefree life here. An old hospital even became a
hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today
