Finn Ballard as a remarkable knowledge of the history of Berlin, and the implications of its Nazi, Communist and Capitalist past for what you see today walking its streets. He communicated that knowledge easily, pointing out fascinating things that we would never have noticed had we been on our own, and illustrating his stories with photos on his ipad of... More

We had a different guide everyday: Sven, Aaron, Finn and Robert - all were very knowledgeable and added so much to our visit to Berlin. They were all great fun to spend a day with. Highly recommend

We booked a number of activities for our trip to Berlin - so we were very specific about what we wanted to cover on this tour in order to avoid overlaps. We were also quite a challenging group as most of us have studied a bit of German history. Given these parameters we were really impressed by our guide -... More

This was a fantastic tour. Our guide, Finn, asked us at the beginning what we wanted to learn and see, and then tailored the tour to our interests. He was engaging, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. We learned so much about the city's rich history, and left the tour with several recommendations of more to do in both Berlin and other... Our Context Travel Berlin tours were exceptional. The Pergamon Museum tour was enlightening. Sara's knowledge, attention to detail and obvious enthusiasm for the subject was wonderful. The Neues Museum with Jason was a magical mystery tour through the museum's impressive Egyptian collection. His background in art and his attention to the delicate nuances of the figures and friezes breathed life... More

Sara was a great tour guide for our Pergamon visit. There were 4 of us. She was very knowledgeable, pleasant, enthusiastic and accommodated our curiousity. She even extended our tour at least an extra hour and a half to cover the second floor. Clearly , she knew her history!

My husband and 2 young daughters recently took a Context Tours 'Bike the Wall' tour. As it transpired, we had the docent to ourselves, and were excited at the prospect of a 'private tour'. However, with the benefit of having done a number of Fat Tire Tours in France, this tour was very disappointing. Whilst our docent was well informed... More

Context nailed it again with a great tour of Jewish history in Berlin. Maybe Context does a good job for some people and in some places, but my experience has been one of constant errors and no-shows and misinformation, in both their Berlin and New York City operations. I was scheduled to take an Art Tour of Berlin on September 3, 2016 and had received an email conformation of the tour. But two... More

Hello dickgrote, We're sorry to hear that your experiences with us haven't met your expectations. We're following up internally with our Central Europe team to figure out what went wrong with your tour in Berlin - it's certainly not to anyone's benefit if a tour simply doesn't happen! Many thanks for bringing this to our attention. More

Staying in Neukolln

Neighbourhood Profile
Neukolln
No Berlin neighbourhood is more popular with the young and jet-set crowd than the old worker's district of Neukölln. With so many Turkish settled here, the area became known as “Little Istanbul“. Today the percentage of foreigners is still high and visitors still frequent the Turkish shisha bars. In the daytime, they also visit the designer shops and sit by the canal in one of the street cafés up and down Westerstrasse or at Maybachufer, having a beer and waving to the sightseeing boats as they float by. But at night, Neukölln is dominated by increasingly young, alternative, and international crowds. This is particularly evident in the northern section of the district where there are many bars, funky clubs, galleries and restaurants. There, the night never seems to end.
