Very well organised staion, with lots of cafes and shops and restrooms on the ground floor and the platforms on the second floor. This makes it very easy to find your way around.

The Berlin Hauptbahnof is something to see, worth spending a morning there just to marvel at the architecture, the curved glass roof and the staggered platforms with the trains on different levels coming and going like something out of Fritz Lang's Metropolis. As with most...More

Berlin central train station is the way into and out of Berlin. It is 4 levels with several glass-walled escalators and stairways - a bit intimidating for a heights-challenged individual like myself. There are not many hotels closeby, so most visitors need to connect to...More

I was literally blown away by the massive structure of the station when I first laid eyes on the platforms as soon as I got off the train from Hanover. There are multiple layers of this station where trains come and go. It also connects...More

Not speaking a word of German, the Berlin Haupbahnhof could be very daunting, but the staff at the information desks all speak English and were very helpful. This is the confluence of the trains (Deutchbahn) underground (U-BAhn) and the trans (S-Bahn). Downstairs the trains run...More

If you get a 3 day tourist travel card, you are bound to end up here at least once. Has connections to S and U lines, with trams and buses outside. Including the TXL to the airport. Large station, but well signed. So it is...More

Just a quick note of caution - unlike England, Germany does not seem to accept cards so readily - when using ticket machines in this station, most cards don't seem to work so remember to bring enough cash! This is such a pleasant station to...More

Germany still has archaic closing laws for stores except in train stations and gas stations. You can always run over to the Main Train station which has excellent public transportation connections if you really need something. Otherwise, it's just a typical, very clean German shopping...More

Moabit
You may not realize Moabit is one of the city’s most
central neighbourhoods when you arrive at Hauptbahnhof
(central station). Surrounded by waterways, Moabit is
a quiet island protected from the hustle and bustle of
Berlin. The crowds that do gather prefer spending
their evenings in cozy restaurants over the party
venues offered by other districts. With its beautiful
parks, old housing and romantic industrial areas, life
