Do not confuse this with the vibrant Karl Marx Strasse area in New Koln. Go south and be happy. More happy.

The street was the highlight of the Germany's reconstruction under the former GDR and has been preserved in its original form. So a walk along the street takes you back to Stalinist era city planning. The wide boulevard is beautifully laid out with domed towers...More

if you are into architecture (especially if like me you love the old soviet 'power' buildings) then you will be in a bit of heaven here - the wide boulevard and super buildings make this a MUST.

This alle is a reflection of socialism architecture from the end of 20th century. Berlin is perfect place to compare east European and west European architecture.

Visited as it was preparing for the Berlin International Beer Festival (and came back for that!). As others mention, a very interesting and somewhat cool road with interesting architecture. Not too far from Alexanderplatz, easy walk or one station away if you prefer the ubahn....More

Karl Marx Allee is an awesome looking boulevard in the former GDR that is a throw back to the communist style architecture that is so prevalent in countries that suffered under Soviet oppression. The street was constructed after 1945 and is 90 metres wide and...More

A nice long work if you have a bit of extra time to explore Berlin. The information plaques along the street gives information on the history, a walking tour would probably add to this though.

Karl-Marx-Allee is a 2 km avenue in the east part of Berlin. You'll see soviet architecture as well the concept of the imponence of the main avenues.

When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of
the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party
hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is
palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter
are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may
find a bar with international crowds, electronic
music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other,
an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit
