Hiding way at the end of a long list of concerts I searched out on Berlin's official tourism website (visitberlin.de) was "Sounds and Clouds," a combination baroque-and-modern chamber music program to be held at this unusual venue. Though housed in a former waterworks on the River Spree, the auditorium at Radialsystem V has excellent acoustics, even for chamber music. The... More

About a 5 minute walk from Ostbahnhof, this concert/dance space is located on the river in a beautiful converted factory building. Sound and sight lines are superb, staff are friendly, and the riverside bar is excellent for a pre or post-show drink. Capacity is around 200/250 seated, with a relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend catching anything on here.

The ‘prize’ for my favourite concert of last year was a no contest. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra’s three-in-one show at Berlin’s Radialsystem was a walk-away winner. So one of my first bookings, this season, was for seats to repeat the experience. They say you shouldn’t: it’s never as good second time around. Was it? Yes and no. It was a... More

Very relaxed concert and performance space, beautiful architecture, good and cheap bar/cafe. Slightly off beaten track but worth a visit if you love classical concerts, dance etc

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
