A memorial to the Sinti and Roma peoples who were also marked for "cleansing". A beautiful place with a year by year description of Stare policies against the people.

The memorial seems to mirror the theme of ponds particularly at Auschwitz where it is know that thousands of the victims of the Holocaust were poured. It is a place of contemplation on a walk between the Brandenburg and the beautifully refurbished Deutscher Bundestag.

It would be fairly easy to wander through the Tiergarten between The Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate and not notice this simple but moving memorial. The site was extremely peaceful. Look for the poem around the pool and the engravings on some of the stones. I...More

We stumbled on this on our way to the Brandenberg Gate. The pond monument itself isn't much to look at however the timeline of events on the wall outside gives you the story of how it all unfolded and meaning to the monument. Worth stopping...More

It's a really peaceful and beautiful place! Simple place but interesting how those who were killed unfairly can be remembered in such a simple nice way! Spend some time here if you can!

We happened upon this memorial when walking through the Tiegarten to get to the Brandenberg Gate. I knew that gypsies had also been Nazi targets during WWII, and it was fascinating (and heartbreaking) to learn the details of their persecution. This memorial is a haunting...More

As someone who has had the privilege of working with dispossessed Roma in the UK this was on the must see list. A fitting, peaceful memorial to an often forgotten persecuted group.

This is a simple memorial, no charge and probably only a quick stop on your city tour. It does however provide a useful insight into the needless murder of thousands of gypsy's during the 1930's and 1940's. It is clear from the information that the...More
