Berlin's Kulturform is a complex devoted to the arts. I went there to see El Siglo de Oro. The Age of Velázquez, one of several art exhibitions. Over 130 masterpieces from Spain's golden age (the 17th century) were on display. An important period in European art. The exhibition was of the highest caliber, featuring both paintings and sculptures. Velázquez, El... More

Kulturforum itself is only a name - there are two excellent museums: Gemaeldegalerie and Kunstgewerbe Museum, and there is also the Philharmonie. Even in the St. Matthäus church there are always exhibitions.

We visited the Gemäldegalerie and wanted to see the paintings of "Merchant Georg Gisze" & "Venus and the Organ Player". The building was very hard to find as we got lost inside the Kulturforum. The staff selling ticket wasn't very helpful as she didn't tell us to put the small rucksack in the locker and didn't give us any leaflet... More

Went for the Testing exhibition. Really great and in a excellent exhibition site. Easy parking. Not crowded. Good spot for the right exhibition.

Neat complex of buildings. Much public art, great architecture, landscaped parks, movie theaters and museums.

I went here last month for Mario Testino exhibition. It was my third time here, and what can I say? Another well-curated exhibition. I was surprised to find my audio guide also contains some videos showing the behind-the-scene process of some photos hung on the exhibition wall, which enhances the experience of immersing in the images.

We knew there were too many masterpieces to appreciate in a day so prepared a list and tried to stick to it - but for every Durer Cranach Botticelli and Rembrandt there was another and another that had to be seen- the audio guide was very good and the staff helpful with the vagaries of the room numbering. An unforgettable... More

I went to the Kutlurforum to see the Mario Testino Exhibit and it was wonderful! Curated magnificently with great staff. I would suggest to check the exhibits ahead of time but only being a short walk from the Sony Center it made for a lovely morning in Berlin!

This place is massive! We decided we needed 2 full days to do it justice. The collection of Old Masters was what we came to see, and were given audio guides in English as part of the visit. If visiting more than 2 museums and galleries, it pays to get the 3 day €24 pass, as entry is usually €12... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
