Badehaus Szimpla: concerts, parties and cinema. Jazz, Swing, Balkan, Worldmusic, Ethno, Folk, Ska, Rock & Roll, Electro, Experimental, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Dub Established in september 2011 Badehaus Szimpla is an untypical venue / club at one of Berlin´s nightlife hotspots RAW area in Berlin-Friedrichshain - it´s a concert venue, club, bar, café and cinema. Among a lot of clubs, bars and restaurants Badehaus Szimpla surprises with pleasantly eastern european charm and kindness. But the main point is: It´s well known for its almost daily concerts, especially for his jam-sessions (Jazz-Session "Naked Jazz Bath every sunday, "Rose & Roll"-Session on thursday, The Family on monday, SWAGJAM on tuesday). Lots of really distinguished bands and musicians played there till today and many more will follow.

The setting is average Berlin-hippster like…but they have a nice table-top football thingy for which they charge you a reasonable amount. The 2 live bands from Hungary were actually the only and main attraction. The rest was Berlin hipster average. It was nice that smokers really just smoked in the separated smoker area.

In my opinion this place is highly overrated like so many things in Berlin - unfriendly and expensive.

We went there due to recommendations of friends, however the experience was less positive than expected. Especially the sound I found was quite terrible - just loud and without depth. I think, Berlin can do better.

We visited this place during a show of a mexican band. This place is unique, for sure. No draught beer variety but plenty to choose from if you choose bottled beer. Not a place for everyone, but everyone must visit at least once.

An excellent club with gypsy jazz music once a week. The location is perfect: pretty near from Neue Heimat market.

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
