The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.

Good flea market
Aug 2021 • Family
Well located flea market. Not as big as I thought but still OK for a big market. Didn't find what I was looking for but saw other interesting antiques

You can see old products full of their stories
Jan 2020
You can see old products full of their stories here, and you can also meet interesting performers and various foods. The experience of finding something special in a pile of stuff was very interesting. It's full of very old and new products. I was able to get handmade cards and small ornaments here, and these are rare items I haven't seen anywhere else. You can also buy dishes at reasonable prices. If you look around here slowly, it takes about 2 hours. After shopping, you can see dynamic people painting on the wall and it's even more enjoyable. Within a five-minute distance, there is Bonanza Coffee, where you can stop by and wrap up the day happily. If you visit Berlin on the weekend, I recommend you go to Mauerpark.

Our best afternoon in Berlin
Jul 2019
This was the highlight of our visit to Berlin. The market is easy to get to by public transport and we combined it with a visit to the Memorial to the Berlin Wall and the Chapel of Reconciliation. The market has a great atmosphere, friendly vendors with a large variety of goods, and plenty of reasonably priced food and drink outlets. After perusing the markets, you can go up to the music amphitheatre for some entertainment or check out the street art on the stadium wall at the top of the embankment. This is a very active display (we saw several artists at work) which in my view is artistically better than the East Side Gallery (but not as famous for political statements). There are several beer gardens nearby for dinner or drinks after your visit (we went to Prater Garten, which was fine).

Depressing
Mar 2020 • Couples
Err this isn’t really a ‘flea market’ - it’s mostly market stalls and a few sellers selling house clearance items. Overall I’d say it’s pretty low end, hippy, trashy. The house clearance sellers are hustler types - I saw a couple of ok things but their selling tactics put us off. The market stalls are crystals, African bags, studenty t-shirts etc.
It wasn’t at all what we’d hoped for, in fact quite depressing. Really don’t recommend if you’re into proper flea markets.

Nice, not as expected
Mar 2020 • Friends
Nice stands, a bit kitchi, less interesting items than expected. I think less authentic than others flea markets I've seen. Nice for a sunny day

Food Trucks
Feb 2020 • Friends
Best part were the food trucks - Thai, Argentinian, Japanese, French, wurst, etc. It all looked very good and there were long lines at the popular ones. Some interesting merchandise vendors but it looked like a few decided to close due to early rains. Most of the used/antiqu-ish items required one to dig through boxes.

Good market, alot of 'Etsy' type things being sold as well as second hand stalls, souvenirs etc. A bit muddy under foot in places if has been raining so wear appropriate footwear. Plenty of food and drink to choose from too. Enjoyable Sunday morning
