Had a brilliant half-day on our first full day exploring Berlin. Our tour guide was Dennis, who fascinated me due to his passion and obvious genuine interest for the city he was talking about. His talk was very detailed but also succinct and easy to understand. I was amazed by the things I learnt. Turns out my knowledge of German... More

Very interesting historical 4 hours, we were with our 9 year old who we thought might struggle but Jonathan kept it interesting. Would recommend to anyone to do this on the first day so they get a feel for the City and what to do over their stay.

This was a really interesting walking tour of the former concentration camp at Sachsenhausen now a memorial. Our guide Dennis was very well informed and brilliant at communicating the history of the place, its stories and impact. Our teenage daughter had been studying modern German history and she found it extremely interesting and informative. Dennis did not shy away from... More

Our guide Matti was awesome. I learned so much about the German history, and saw so many key sites. I highly recommend the tour. Check the weather in the winter because this is obviously a walking tour so you are outside. This really covered a lot in the four hours. Thanks so much, Matti.

There were a lot of people wanting to tour so the group was split into two and our tour was led by Wouter Bernhardt. He was excellent, great knowledge, and was able to make us think about the sites that we visited, such as whether the memorial was memorable and/or appropriate. We also saw the memorial to the 1930's book... More

Very interesting and informative walking tour of many of Berlin's main attractions. Our guide Jonathan was excellent. Very knowledgeable and gave us some good recommendations for the rest of our stay in Berlin. A good way to see lots of the city in a relatively short space of time.

The meeting place was easy to find. Our guide Matty ( I think it was Sorry) was really good and informative. We did a 4 hour walk and were happy we picked this tour rather than do it on our own. We saw all of the sites etc and we're well informed with information. It wasn't rushed or hurried along... More

We joined this tour led by Jess. Found him very engaging and knowledgeable. He's got a master's in history. Covered a lot of ground. Saw lots of sites. He gave it to us straight and answered all questions. Worth every penny and every minute. Highly recommended.

4 hour walk as an introduction to some of the main sites in Berlin. The tour was taken by Pip who was knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour was really good at bringing a human interest to the wealth of history in Berlin. Our children (9 and 12) enjoyed it so good for all ages.

The tour group were split in two to make numbers manageable, our guide, Jonathan, was very knowledgable and informative throughout. Lots of information given on where to go, what to see and what was worth spending time and money doing. Overall an enjoyable and informative experience that set us up to explore at our own pace.

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
