We run into the De Gainsbourg by mistake, while we wanted to sit in another place. The place is in some kind of alley and only big red reflection of its signs are welcoming you and let you know that you are on the right direction. Yes it is smoky inside and such places are not my cup of tea.... More

A haven for all you smokers who get nostalgic for the days of smoking INSIDE a bar. We nipped in for a couple of drinks, two kindl biers and two Old Fashioneds expertly prepared. Service was prompt, music was good. If you like dark and smoky, and have a penchant for the odd cocktail give Gainsbourg a go. Bier ?3.50... More

We spent around forty-five minutes searching for this bar but found a restaurant called "mar y sol" at its address. We asked a few locals if they could point us in the right direction and some had never heard of it, others pointed in the direction of aforementioned restaurant. Maybe we're just blind but I'm almost positive that this bar... More

Lovely relaxing Charlottenburg cafe/bar, tucked away in a lane along from Savignyplatz 'S' bahn station, parallel to Kantstrasse. Piano in the corner. Great music, friendly staff. Good cocktails & drinks. Open 'till stupid-o'clock in the morning & not full of tourists. I like it.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
