This is a great museum in the Speicherstadt. There are 9 floors dedicated to a specific theme. The collection is very well organised. Make sure you plan enough time visiting this museum.

Be aware that entering the Internationales Maritimes Museum is like diving into the very means of how man started looking upon the sea since the time of ancient civilazations to contemporary cruising of the world. It crosses the "when", "how" and "what" of every little aspect of "man", "boat" and "sea" worldwide. The musuem demends you time as you go... More

Remarkable and formidable 10 floors of history, art, description of sailing. One can find all kinds of navigating devices, and all kinds of small and great systems attached to it. Since I know little about sailing, I was amazed by the numerous woderful paintings depicting ships and sailing! Do not miss that!

Go early in the morning and if you love ships, navigation e.t.c. you have to spend at least 4-5 hours. There must be a better planning with the simulator so kids can enjoy it more.

a very cool place if you are interessted in history and development of shipping. It is not everything just about engineering, you learn many things about the oceans, navigation, political history, weapons or Art. there are about 9 "Decks" in this building full of interessting parts -so take your time ;)

Was a very informative museum. We spent a whole day going through about five floors of Maritime history, models etc It was an unforgettable experience. As my husband was a Capt before so he was able to explain a lot to me about the differences from the old days to the present. I would love to go there again soon.

Everything seafaring, from old windjammers to modern research vessels.Painstaking models of famous ships - remember the "Pamir", "Hood", "Victory"? Officers uniforms through the ages. Worth spending a few hours in here.

Next to Speicherstadt and closed to the cruise terminal, elbphilharmonie, the Maritime museum is a great spot to dive in the Hanseatic and International Seas History. Supported by multimedia presentations the exhibits are of great didactic value and personally the ships models are my favorites. Don't miss it.
