Buy a ticket and climb the stairs to the top of Hamburg's (former ;-) ) landscape. The view over St Pauli, old town and harbour is breathtaking. Don't forget your coat - it can be quite windy up there! ;-)

The church was build in a nice architecture, it is huge und well decorated. Especially in christmas period a visit is worth it. Entry is free, donations are welcome, but you are not pushed into it. For little entry you get see the crypt.

I do not know exact timing, but the service is open at 9 AM - that is when I went there. Hope that helps.
