We stopped just before lunch for 30 mins "pause" with a pastor reading from the Bible and a short reflection and prayers interspersed with Bach organ chorale preludes on the historic organ. Even without really understanding the German (we just about worked out where the bible reading was from) it was a lovely peaceful time and afterwards we popped into... More

This is a lovely and tranquil church. While the church's exterior looks wonderful, the interior isn't as opulent as we'd thought it'd be. Having said that, the organ is quite impressive and beautiful, as is the high altar. Worth a 5-minute visit.

The Schnitger organ is one of the oldest and best in Europe. There are regular weekly recitals and it is certainly worth trying to catch one.

This beautiful old catholic church is the "pilgrim church" of Hamburg & the pilgrim door from where pilgrims in the Middle Ages set off for Santiago de Compostela, Trondheim, Jerusalem & Rome can still be seen. The church has a beautiful & well maintained organ & some stunning art works.
