This is giving an impression how Aachen looked earlier days when there was still a city wall. The Marschiertor is normally not open for the public and can only be visited from the outside. It was built in 13th century. The other remaining piece of...More

It is one of two standing gate's of old days of Aachen from 1300's. Wish to see detailed but under renovation now, what to say, a good reason to come to Aachen again:)

I was quite disappointed to find that this gate is under renovation. There are scaffolds all around, and the gate can hardly be seen. Better check when the renovation works should be finished.

If you are in Aachen you should take the time to see the 2 city gates. They are from the 1300s. Pretty amazing they are still standing!

This is just an old city gate - you can't go inside or up in the tower, so it is seen in 30 seconds.

I had seen this site on other travel sites as something to visit. We just happened to pass it on our way out of town. It's worth the stop, but it will not take long to visit and see.

This was interesting to try to figure out. I was walking back to the train station (the long way) from the Cathedral, after stopping for some pastries and chocolates i stumbled upon this. Very cool old gate on the city center side of the bridge.

This is one of the two remaining gates of the city walls. Beautiful and historic but not worth going our of your way for if you're short on time.

Unvortunately not open to public at all times. But it´s worth to see it from the outside. Not far away from the market square.

Marschiertor is like Pontor a big medieval tower, an entrance archway, a rest part of the wall arounding the ancient city
