August Macke expo.

Very nice August Macke expo in the ground floor. The museum is overall good for a medium german city. 2h are enough to see everything.

This modern art museum exceeded my expectations. It needs a solid 2-3 hours to go through everything and i especially loved the exhibitions and the architecture. Defenitely worth visiting for the modern art lover.

The Kunstmuseum Bonn is definitely one of the best museums for modern and contemporary art in Germany. Virtually every big name in German art today is present and the museum is delightfully airy and light. An absolute must see

I really enjoyed my time there, especially visiting "The Uncanny Home" ("Unheimlich") exhibition. It was dedicated to the role of the interiors in the modern art, starting from E.Munch and to M.Beckmann, as the description said itself. All the descriptions were available in English, even the brochures I got at the entrance for free contained English information. The post-modernist exhibition... More

This is the old city hall and in a town square which is rich in history, we had a coffee and did some shopping

Mirroring a recent review of another traveller here, which I unfortunately discovered only after the visit ... The building & surroundings are very modern, definitely high quality architecture. However, the art collection was really poor - and I was really surprised to see the scarcity of valuable collections. Add to this the fact that the titles/explanations were not translated in... This is a spacious modern building with a very interesting layout . There are some excellent permanent exhibits of contemporary painters that I didn't know of and a very good shop with a wonderful choice of books/toys that are informative about art and also a good choice of gifts. On the contrary to one other reviewer's comments, I found the... More

Beautiful modern building. Even if a lot of the art doesn't grab you - and with contemporary art, that's not uncommon - there building is such a great display space. Good selection of Joseph Beuys, two temporary exhibitions going at any one time plus the permanent collection. Slightly lacking in the normal 20th century art you might expect in a... More

I was really surprised by the poor quality of the collection. The building must have cost a fortune, but the only artist I had heard of was August Macke (who is a not very good expressionist painter). The usual collection of faux art: white canvases, piles of sticks on the ground, a (non-operational) bar. This one had, as an added... More

This open, light-filled, welcoming museum has plenty to gaze at and some art you can pass on by. There are lots of big names with multiple works in the collection, and perhaps too many which were unknown to me. I'm not sure how many of these less familiar artists will eventually enter the canon of art history, but it was... More
