There a massive collection of Roman artifacts from the days of the colony ( hence the name of Cologne ) It starts from pre Roman times and go onto the Frankish influences. Well recomended.

I really enjoyed this museum. I am very interested in early Roman history and ruins so there is plenty to see and read about here. It is built on the original site of a Roman ruin uncovered during WWII. There are many wonderful artifacts here....More

The whole museum has been built around the ‘Dionysus Mosaic’ (approx 30m x 20m) which dates from around AD 220/230 and was uncovered during 1941 when they started digging up to build an air-raid shelter! The mosaic is remarkably little damaged given its age. There...More

The Roman German museum of Cologne really offers a terrific display of Roman artefacts as well as the transition towards the middle ages. Really worth the visit..

The museum had really lots of interesting things to see, loved every bit to it. Definitely worth visiting if you stop by in Cologne.

An interesting place to spend an hour or two, especially on a rainy day. The restored frescoes and mosaic floors, combined with an array of sculptures and other artifacts make this a worthwhile stop.
