I read some other recent reviews before writing this and I want to be clear on our experience. We arrived about 2:45 one afternoon and were welcomed to join the 3pm tour so we paid the €5. It was in English and was really well presented by a charming German woman who spoke perfect English. There were only 3 people... More

This is an interesting tour of the history of Cologne, and it has a lot of neat historical information. The place seems a bit full of themselves, but that is part of the charm. The fragrance itself is OK, but I prefer the 4711 (their competitor in this space).

I really enjoyed my visit to the Farina house. It was insightful and fun, but only if you're interested in perfumes. It's in a fun area of Cologne, near the cathedral, with shops, restaurants and lots to do. I really loved it! To the family with the crying baby and dad, stay away next time! Our Brazilian tour guide was... More

Other than seeing the dom (cathedral) and trying the local kolsch (beer), the other main attraction of Cologne is its famous history with fragrances... specifically, Farina and 4711. While both are worth visiting, we found the detour to 4711 more enjoyable, but Farina was still worth a visit (and we prefer their "classic" fragrance to the 4711 one) We stopped... More

Interesting to learn something about the history of Eau de cologne, but the museum is only accessible for groups (with a minimum of 4 persons).

We were there two years ago and paid only €5 per person. The tour was great as we had a guide telling us great stories, letting us smell the different parfumes, as well as gave us a small bottle of fragrance as a present (which probably cost more than the price for the tour itself). We even took a picture... More

This was a wonderful visit. Very informative. The tour guide was knowledgeable and provided a very unique overview of the history and current practices surrounding perfume making. I would recommend booking a tour in advance. Just note that the venue does not have a restroom.

The place is not huge, but the history is complex. It is necessary to schedule a tour, which has several possibilities of language, including Portuguese. The guides are specialists who study to explain well the history of Cologne Water. At the end of the tour the guide does some tests with certain fragrances to test visitors' nose. One of a... More

Although the museum is a small one, the moderator makes this visit a very enjoyable experience. The guided tour gives brief details about the history of fragrance. The museum visit is a guided one and you have to book in advance. The guided English tour costs 5 Euros after which you get a sample of Farini Eau de Cologne. (A... More

We visited this perfume museum believing we were going to see something more than what we saw. The guide was very nice, but it's a short visit. The fragrance is good.
