I took a friend from Bavaria there when I showed him the city and its surroundings. The Villa makes you feel like the Krupp's had just moved out. You can feel the history that surrounds you everywhere - literally. Take yourself sometime to see the exhibiton as well as the park that offers views of the Baldeneysee.

This was a huge home from the Krupp family. We had a guide. She spoke Dutch very good and was very informative.

From the outside, it doesn't look like much, compared to all of the fantastic old buildings in Germany. But, inside, the walls and floors and ceilings were amazing. The furniture was beautiful. The history behind the Krupp family was also interesting.

I visited this place with a friend. At first we took a stroll through the extensive park, which is quite hilly. Unfortunately there is no map available, which turned out not to be too much of a miss, as there are no particular spots to explore. Next we went into the buildings. The larger main building has several rooms to... More

A family history at its best and with its various time zones you are able to see the ability how the family lived and grow with the political challenges at the given time. The designing of the flow area as you enter the building shows a clear structure of the family tradition

The construction is amazing and the woodwork is awe-inspiring. The paintings are fabulous and we also enjoyed the artifacts and displays in the second wing of the villa. The expansive grounds are beautifully maintained and spacious.

Villa Hiuegel (the villa on the hill) was the family seat of the Krupp family in Essen. It's imposing, it's grand, it's huge, it has over 260 rooms and over 8000 sqms of living space. It was built to impress and it never fails to do so. The building work started in 1870 and generations of Krupps have left heir... More

A possibility to see the living style of the most important people of the early last century. A center for (war) industry and an example for the influence of industry on politics.
