When walking through the city center, the cathedral is one of the few 'historic' buildings in town. 'Historic' because the cathedral was rebuilt after its destruction during the second World War. The cathedral is only therefore definitely worth a visit.

Very tranquil, and very peaceful. One of the better buildings in an otherwise drab city. Great place to retreat to and reflect.

A nice wee church in the center of Essen city. There are some good restaurants and other shops to visit nearby. Also not very far from the main train station.
