Obviously, it is an important historic part of Mainz, at the same time it's just another Cathedral and I have seen nicer and more impressive ones. Judge for yourself, all major hotels are nearby, so it's not going to be the issue of the walk...More

Was a little disappointed with all the vendors out taking away from the beauty of the cathedral, but I’ve got to remind myself in another country and this is the way of live with small crowded streets. Still a beautiful church.

As with many of the cities of Europe, there's a huge central church that totally dominates the area. In Mainz, its the Mainz Cathedral or sometimes called the St Martin Cathedral. It's about 1000 years old and originally Catholic, although I believe it's now an...More

Its a must see in Mainz since it is the biggest tourist attraction in the city. but that is it. Nothing especial about the Dom. Just like any other cathedral in Europe. I liked the red sandstone walls and the garden though.

The Cathedral was right outside the Christmas Market so we popped in to see the Nativity. It was lovely to see so many people gathered round it waiting patiently for their turn to take a photograph. No pushing and shoving!

The Christmas market was right outside. The cathedral. The nativity scene was cute. But the cathedral was beautiful. Love the opportunity to see the history.

If you're in Mainz you need to see it's cathedral. It isn't special and pales compared to many other cities. That said it is a local reflection and should be seen. 20 minutes is more than enough. There is another church up the hill with...More

I have visited this cathedral for quite a few times now and and it's rather dark inside. But this is and important part of what makes it so exceptional for me. Every time I'm impressed by this breathtaking medieval feeling it immediately creates when you...More

Remarkable architecture 1000 years history. Did attend sung Eucharist at 10:00 with heavenly sung choir in German was the best thing of my vacation so peaceful and touching and later had a tour around the church indoors and of course couldn't miss the Christmas market...More
