The Hauptmarkt isn't actually an attraction, it's Trier's main square. There are fruit and flower stands there. It is lined with nice shops. And there is a winery kiosk in the center where locals gather for a glass in the late afternoon and evening. What...More

There are a lot of really old buildings. After going to some of the museums. I had more appreciation for the things in the square. There is a fountain with WW damage on it. I poor with a Maltese cross a top of it. Where...More

Truly a gathering place- this whole area was destroyed in the war and rebuilt into this quintessential German architecture with some French provincial touches-music, food, wine, singing, and sharing food at an outdoor cafe' is charming.
