An improvement would be more information/signage. It was interesting to walk underneath the "floor" of the amphitheater and see how it was supported. Walking around and on the grassy slopes provided insight into how this space would have been viewed in Roman times.

My boys have studied Roman History and taken Latin in High School. This was a great place to visit. The acoustics are fantastic, you can stand in the middle of the amphitheater and be heard through out the stands. Be sure to visit the passages...More

Even on a gloomy day, this is an impressive structure. Home to gladiatorial battles, and other forms of entertainment dating back to the 2nd century A.D., you are free to walk throughout the amphitheater and absorb the history.

Very well preserved Roman relic. Very large with underground passages. Easy to imagine the carnage within the arena. Good views back across to Trier from the top of the terraces. About a 20 minute walk from the centre. Not too many other tourists to spoil...More

After you smile and hop past the grumpy attendant who throws you your admission ticket and change, this place is brilliant. It is a small remnant of what would have been an amazing facility when in full flight but it gives a great insight into...More

Be there at 9 a.m. sharp and all the theater is yours! A must visit site if you are into Roman's history. If you are going to visit several sites, don't buy the single ticket, buy the combi card instead. It is really worth it...More

Imagine the battles in the Amphitheater Amphitheater - the amphitheater outside the walls of the Old City - where cruel games were held between gladiators and prey. The amphitheater was built in the 2nd century, and in the games they could sit and watch nearly...More

One of the Roman artifacts being restored in Trier. Our visit was during an overcast day and we had the site to ourselves. Low entrance fee of 3 Euro. One large sign in English explaining the work being done. We climbed to the top and...More
