Trier's history isn't just Roman, it's also a 300year fighting for prestige between the archbishops and the seculars. The secular building 'Steipe' is located so that the lord spiritual had to see it every day, with its defiant battlements and the knights facing the Cathedral.

The "Die Steipe" is a Gothic 15th century house located in the Hauptmarkt of Trier. It is decorate with the statues of three saints. It has a restaurant beneath it in its name. The statues and decorations are much more attractive than the building itself.
