The museum is not very big but it has a lot of exibits. I really liked that they were display thematically - there was a pharmacy, music shop, grocery store but also a school, few living rooms and kitchens, a bathroom and more. As a...More

Really interesting display of artefacts from the old DDR with lots of interesting information to read about each section. Would recommend to anyone interested in DDR times.

I'm afraid I suffer from a bit of Ostalgie, and I'm not even a German! I love reading accounts and novels set in the DDR era. This museum is nicely laid out, very spacious and had typical clothes, rooms, cars, businesses & military examples from...More

I lived in Berlin in the 80s and this museum brought back a lot of memories from my visits to the East. It is small and there are a lot of exhibits, some kind of crammed together. Staff was friendly and spoke english. Worth the...More

The content is apparently from the Zeitreise DDR museum which closed last year. Too many trabants imho, the caravan and tent attachments are interesting though! Probably too many artefacts for the space, the closed museum was on 4 floors. It's only €4 entry at 1700...More

I can say the DDR museum in Berlin is for children, and here is for more serious big guys in Dresden. Exhibitions are more various and dealing with heavier, more serious social themes. I hope everyone who are interested in DDR visit here, not only...More

Die Welt der DDR is a nice collection of period "things" from the GDR, organized in categories. The building itself is actually a shopping mall, and the museum takes up a store, so there isn't much to write home about there. There is a mock...More

Recently (Jan 2017) moved from Radebeul into the "Simmel Center" at Albertplatz in Dresden. You don't know whether to laugh or to cry: it's kind of irrational and suggests, that the former GDR-people had access to all like we did in the west. Unfortunately it's...More
