Not worthy of a special visit but if you are in the area and have a few minutes to spare then go look at the statue, read the inscriptions and soak up some of the old history of Saxony

The Goldener Reiter (Golden Rider) is a landmark equestrian statue that can be seen just past Augustusbrucke (bridge) open entering Innere Neustradt on the north bank of the Elbe River. This monument is a gilded statue of Fredrick Augustus of Saxony that was originally cast between 1732-1734 and unveiled to the public in 1736. Augustus is seated upon a rearing... More

Even though you pass by quickly, this is a must see. The gold is spectacular - hope for a sunny day but it's great even in gloom.

The Goldener Reiter is a gilded equestrian statue of Augustus II (the Strong) and it’s the showiest thing at sight when approaching the Dresden Neustadt district along the Augustbridge from the Schlossplatz. Augustus the Strong was Elector of Saxony and King of Poland and under his auspices many splendid baroque buildings were built in Dresden, among which the Zwinger is... More

I am certain Augustus was a fine leader worthy of a statue. This one is very bright and shiny. For my taste a bit too bright to the point of being gaudy. It's located just at the north side of the Augustus Bridge, so easy to reach from the old town.

It's a nice statue but only if you are in the area, we saw it as we walked in the area but wouldn't go there especially

A golden statue of August the Strong at the centre of the square just on the mouth of Augustus Bridge. A tram line passes here from the nearby stop that will take you into Dresden’s Old City.

Worth having a walk over the Augustus bridge and see this gold plated statue of King Augustus on his horse, linking the old and his new city. Have a walk in the square with some former DDR buildings ( coffee bars and shops ) along the Hauptstrasse. This must be a cosy avenue with mediterranen looks in summer time with... More
