Restored to its former magnificence after its destruction in the 1945 bombing of Dresden, this elaborate, High Renaissance style opera house presents opera, ballet and jazz performances, and is worth a visit if only to marvel at its ornate interior.

Hello, This is an oldest Opera of Dresden situated near Dresden station. You can enjoy walk from train station to this Opera. Dresden has huge squares and big roads. Bus and Tram service is the best to reach Opera but we enjoyed walk. In two...More

The Opera house can only be visited by guided tour so get tickets booked fast as it sells out quickly. Tickets at door and at Information office in centre. Well worth it

We got tickets to see Giselle Ballet on Wednesday 28th June and were not disappointed. The Opera House is stunning and the ballet was superb. Must visit even if you do not see a performance.

Visited the Opera House with friends and did the English tour. Nice to get some background on the history of the current building and the previous opera house which occupied the site until 1945. Worth a visit.

Try getting tickets for a concert instead of doing the tour. The tour was ok, but I think seeing an opera or concert gives the place it's entire magical touch.

This Opera House is truly beautiful in its fully restored opulence. The front of house decoration is something else and there are so many Ionic columns I lost count! Fantastic staircases too. The Auditorium is dominated by a huge chandelier. A guided tour with "Paula"...More

At least as regards architecture and space - this is one of the greats. Opera Productions tend to be good quality, but not necessarily the highest. The concerts by the world famous Staatskappelle are usually world class. Do go in any case, just to see...More
