Very hungry horseflies at least in July so use lots of repellent. The area which is fairly large is not covered by English walking guides similar to Harz. If you are familiar with Rother guides in English you can use the German ones. The Rother guide for Thuringia provides some 50 or so walks. Currently they don't provide the GPS... More

We entered Thuringia. We got onto A4.We made another pit stop shortly after lunch. We entered a deep valley filled with trees. It was overcast. There were clouds. There was a spooky effect.
