After over three weeks in Germany and having seen dozens of of cathedrals and churches including two in this town we happened on this and are very glad we toured it as we learned so much. There is an audio guide which explains the history of not only this church but the Jewish community in Erfurt going back to the... More

This is a good little museum that houses an impressive treasure find from the 1300's. There are audio guides that give you a lot of background information to go with all of the artefacts and texts. There are some really unique pieces here and they are all presented in an informative way. the building itself is also an interesting piece... More

The old synagogue in Erfurt is well worth a visit. It houses a fabulous medieval hoard hidden probably before a pogram. It also has has the fourteenth century Erfurt Bible. The audio guide is very good. It was 8.00 euros per adult entrance.

Tucked down an alleyway we found the entrance to this amazing little museum and were so glad we did. The 9E fee seemed high but proved fair value for the state-of-the-art presentation that followed. We put on headsets and moved into the courtyard listening in English to the early history of the Hebrew community in Erfurt. Next we entered the... More

It's a place with very long, interesting but sad history. Becouse a street reconstruction it's difficult to find this place.

Interesting Jewish history in a very special building. I was told by a Historian that many years ago, while the building was being restored, valuable items were found buried underneath the building which nowadays are exhibited in the museum. Fascinating!

We had no idea how far back Erfurt Jewish history went, and this synagogue's story as the center of the Jewish community in the 12th and 13th centuries was fascinating (and, of course, horribly sad). Audio tour on iPod touch was very informative.

We did not go into the synagogue but did a walk-by! There is so much history in this city that you don't want to miss a thing!
