Beautiful restored rococo style library with an interesting history of Anna Amalia and the restoration or replacement of many antiquarian books after a disastrous fire. Lovely sculptural busts and statues of famous historical personages connected with Weimar. Art cabinet containing objects (instruments, artefacts) displaying incredible craftsmanship.

The library is small but amazing. And book well in advance. Weeks or months in advance. This is a friendly warning. Most times all tickets are sold out.

If you like books and places that make you feel very insignificant in the grand scheme of things, you will love this place. The history and the books and the paintings and the decor...and and and...*breathe* I just can't say enough. Take the time to make an appointment before your trip if you can. It is nice knowing that you... More

Of course the Rokokosaal is the most impressive part of the library. It looks really nice, you really can't see any indications that therewas a fire twice in there! But if you can go to the Sonderlesesaal which you can't without a member card, you see the outside of the balcony is black. The modern part of the library is... More

Anna Amalia library is a must-see for any book lover, but make sure to reserve a ticket well in advance as this stunningly beautiful place grants access to only a limited number of visitors each day.

I remember that when this library was hit hard by a fire a couple of years ago, many thought that most of the library had gone. Well, if you visit this truly marvellous place today you will be surprised to learn what an outstanding job the renovators have done! The place also provides you with fascinating insights into Weimar´s rich... More

Visiting the Anna Amalia Library was one of my highlights in Weimar. To get in, I advice to order a ticket online or go early in the morning to buy a ticket for later. The museum only allow a certain number of visitors during the day and it's a popular place people visit. You can get an audio guide, which... More
