Goethe National Museum is on of the most important part of visit in weimar. However at the begging it is a big surprise for visitors who are looking for goethe's house, because they are looking for some special building with a different looking but it is between other buildings and except heart of it others are same as other buildings.

Of course, this is the favorite son of Germany and he lived in Weimar for about 50 years. His home and the accompanying museum will tell you everything you want to know and the audio tour is informative. But there is something wonderful about just walking in the path of this Renaissance man and seeing so many things from his... More

Lovely museum in the house where Goethe lived for 50 years. Furniture, sculptures, library everything is well kept as at Goethe time. It gives a very good insight of the life of the greatest German poet.

Awesome feeling to wander through the rooms where the famous philosopher once lived. The original hardwood floors as everything else are well preserved.

I viewed this museum with a lot of prior knowledge on Goethe. It was well done, a little expensive ($12 each). It was great to see original parts and sets. The coolest were where he died and studied.

As a Goethe´s house it is a good place to have a notion about the great work of this great German writer. His office and other rooms of this big house. His house is located beside the Museum.

This museum is an absolute must during your visit in Weimar. It is big, well presented, modern, interactive, informative, never boring, intelligent. Do not miss it.

Goethe's House (the new museum attached to the side is included in the ticket but is a distraction as far as I'm concerned) provides a wonderful private insight into the life and times of Germany's (greatest?) writer. Do take the audio commentary which really helps to bring to life the way Goethe used (and altered) the house and spent his... More

Of course you have to visit this place and take the time to learn and observe the great history and achievements of Goethe. Make sure you take the time ... don't rush!
