We only went along the coast road to the Cabo de Gata itself. Lovely views from there and I always find lighthouses interesting. On the coast road you can see salt being harvested at Las Salinas and there is an interesting church (built 1907) that...More

It is well worth visiting this remote desert like region. It is stark but desert succulents add to the ambiance of the region. San José is very crowded and a surprise so we walked over to Playa de Genoveses where the Genoans landed in 1147....More

People complain about the polytunnels [there are none in the National Park], the flies and the rubbish. But look beyond that - this is UNESCO Global Park and for good reason. The volcanic geology is unique [we collected a bag full of garnets lying on...More

There are plenty of organised trips to Cabo de Gata but you can do it quite easily by car. The views from the lighthouse are amazing .

An incredible drive through pristine surroundings. Can be very congested at times and there are limited places for photo ops. Hard to balance the wildness and the need for some viewing areas.

Breathe taking views, Crystal clear water. A must see for sight seekers and photographers. It is very clean. The water is ideal for snorkelling as long as you pick the right day of course. I've never seen water so clear

Drive through dramatic mountain vistas from picturesque beach to picturesque beach (Playa Genoveses, La Fabriquilla, San Jose). When not swimming in crystal clear water or lounging on warm sand, take a hike through the abandoned Rodeaquilar Gold Mines used by artists like Sergio Leone and...More

It means nude beach in Spanish. And you can go nude at most of the beaches in Cabo da Gata. It is best to hire a car to get to all the sights of the Cabo. July, August, and September are the peak months of...More

The Natural reserve has beaches, birds, salt production, mountains and sea. The roads are not in the best conditions but if you are into nature this is a nice place to explore.

It is a lovely place to be in contact with nature. We walked for hours by the beach and saw many cycling along the roads. We saw flamingos in the natural reserve, it was so peaceful and quiet.

Hi, Carole. Great idea to explore a bit further than the city!! Whilst a tour is the 'safe' option, I personally would pre-arrange the hire of a car at the port of Almeria and travel from Almeria City to Cabo de Gata Nijar... More
