We visited this after having seen the nearby cathedral, and liked this much better. Not only is this a building on a human scale, but it is clearly a church much visited – and, no doubt, loved – by local people. The columns in the...More

This was significantly smaller than the near-by Cathedral but the interior decoration was more imposing and spectacular and well worth a visit. It was built in 1263 on the site of a Muslim Mosque by none other than Alfonso X the Wise and has undergone many...More

Having put our heads around the door of the main cathedral and not feeling the atmosphere the opposite could be said of this place. Beautiful religious figures and works of art but above all a most spiritual place. I was fascinated by some of the...More

We stumbled upon this house of treasures between the Roman theatre and the cathedral. They were preparing for a religious parade so the statues were dressed quite audibly and the platforms/trolleys were decorated in velvet with silver vases. So sumptuous.

Interesting church. Have a look at Cristo de Medinaceli. There is quite a contrast between the religious art and the architecture of the roof. We were glad to have seen it after walking through some stormy weather. Worth the effort.

The detail in the statuary is very realistic and worth the trip here just to view them. In contrast to the larger cathedral...this is very intimate. We visited during a local wedding.

The church is behind the Cathedral of Cadiz to the left and up the stairs to the left. The altar was quite different from others I have seen with Christ carrying his cross and Mary holding the shroud with Jesus face on it. Access is...More
