Not Ancient Catacombs but Interesting Nonetheless
Oct 2019 • Couples
I had not read up on this site so I was expecting catacombs from the ancient Roman period but these are 17th century catacombs created by an secretive order of nuns and shared by
the Masons.
This in itself is surprising and interesting and worth the visit.
The entrance is inside the courtyard of a common house which again is surprising.
There is a short film in Spanish with English subtitles but the translation lacked clarity.
Our guide was young, friendly and enthusiastic but his English was a little lacking (though not for want of trying).
All in all it was worth the visit to discover this surprising bit of history.

No one showed up

We waited an hour for the tour and no one showed up. Very friendly hotel staff who gave us a full refund though.

Not so good
Sep 2018 • Couples
We were there because we had heard good about it from Tripadvisor, and we thought that we could hear some stories in English too. We went to buy the tickets from the hotel, and the man at the reception said that the visit has a part in English, but it turned out, that the English part means just some writings and a short video, which has English subtitles. I think we missed a lot because the guide told everything in Spanish. Also, when we bought the tickets, no one told us that we had to join the group from the hotel. We went straight to the catacumbas, and a man helped us to go to the hotel..

Very enlighting!

This visit was created by a small group of passionate people about the undergrounds of Cadiz. You have to buy the tickets at a hotel and they pick you up at the hotel. From there, a few minutes' walk to a cave wich used to belong to a religious community, where a few interesting things were discovered. You are told also, about the underground system of Cadiz. Can be a problem if you are claustrofobic, though.

Something different
Apr 2018 • Family
This place is certainly different, but a little disappointing. It's not easy to get in - go to the hotel las cortes on c/ san Francisco to buy tickets; there were two tours the day we went. The guide was friendly but struggled in English - her Spanish explanations were much better than the English ones! The place itself is really an old cellar, once used as a water storage place and previously for some coffins. The person who is exploring underground Cadiz seems extraordinary, but sadly he just appears on a short video. For me, the place didn't quite deliver what I was hoping for,,,

A mystery
Feb 2018 • Couples
We looked on line at when the catacumbas were mean’t to be open. We but no one came. I then translated part of the website and it said to go to a local hotel to buy tickets. So we walked to the hotel where they told us to buy tickets online. We couldn’t translate the website so had no clue what to do. So later on we walked back and there was a guy standing outside who told us to go back to the hotel as that’s where people meet. We then left and went on with our day. This attraction needs to be tourist friendly. How can people visit if you don’t make it easy to buy tickets?

Really interesting. One man struggling to show the world the secrets under Cadiz. He has no help financially from the town or state to carry on uncovering the tunnels beneath the city.
Passionate about this.

I'd rather go to library, but this was OK

My friend bought the tickets in advance. The guide was nice, spoke very good English and knew a lot of the history of Cadiz. I think, however, that this atraction suits to people, who like the "alternative facts". The real historical knowledge is somewhere else than in this kind caves.
