Columbian places

Full day excursion in which we will move to the surroundings of Huelva to know the last steps of Columbus before he left for the first time in search of the new route of the Indies, in which he met the new continent. During the tour we will visit the Caravel Quay, where the replicas of the three ships that left on Columbus' first voyage are located. In addition to the replicas of the ships, its main tourist attraction, the Muelle de las Carabelas Museum has an interpretation center, the medieval neighborhood and the Isla del Encuentro, where an attempt has been made to recreate the indigenous culture of the Island of Guanahani, the first island on which Christopher Columbus landed on October 12, 1492. Later we will move on to the Monastery of Santa María de la Rábida, where Christopher Columbus stayed, before leaving for the New World from Andalusia, when he was still preparing his project. Finally, we will go to the town of Moguer where we will visit the Monastery of Santa Clara.

We could better appreciate its detail and significance in the daylight the following day, and sat on the nearby bench for a while. I'd seen the event on TV, but great to see it captured in three dimensions.

This is a brilliant monument to a really significant event in El Rocío. The movement suggested in the sculpture is wonderful. Genius.

Maybe it means something to some people but it is just a statue. It doesn’t look like a special thing. Just a nice item on the street.
