Iglesia de la Anunciacion is a Jesuit Church situated in Calle Larana opposite the wooden Parasol. The achitecture is austere except the alter which is gold and features a fine painted triptych. Of the original structure only the doorway survives. The Jesuits were expelled from Spain at the end of the 18th century.

The main altar of the Church of the Anunciacion has very good art. There is art from Antonio Mohedano and also from Juan de Roelas. The retable was made in 1606 by the Jesuit Alonso Matias.

We visited this church to see the thrones that are used for the Holy Week processions. The throne of Nuestra Señora del Valle was quite beautiful. One of the altars dedicated to the Immaculate Conception was very beautiful too. And of course the main altar is very beautiful and calls attention for its art.

The building was planned by the Jesuit priest Bartolome Bustamante in 1565, and constructed by Hernan Ruiz. The church has the Latin Cross design and the main chapel has a vaulted ceiling. The doorway at the façade has two parts. The... More
