I must admit that when I hear "Old City Walls" in Spain, I think of the walls of Avila. Alas, these are only remnants, and some in real dilapidated condition. We did manage to see a reasonable section of wall that was in good condition,...More

The width of the walls and the outer layer, together with the huge gate are testament to their defensive nature. Worth seeking out and marvelling at their longevity- what around them will last so long?

These ancient defensive walls have been largely obliterated, razed to make room for highways needed for the 1929 World Fair. The Arco de Macarena is a former city gate, the walls attached to it. There were originally 18 gates, only four of which survive today....More

We walked along beside the wall before going into The Macarena church. It's well looked after and gives a small idea of how it would have been all those years ago.

The Murallas de Sevilla dates from the 11th and 12th centuries and is what is left of the north wall of the city. Considering its age it is remarkably well preserved and appears to be original without having suffered the usual fate of having last...More

A little to the north of the other attractions but worth an hour of your time to have a look. Looks wondefulll lit up at night and the walk there from the centre takes you through more residential areas rather than the tourist sights
