We have been one week in Mallorca and this is one of the most beautiful buildings we have seen. We love the architecture in this city

Fabulous building
Sep 2019
One of the important museums in Palma with a permanent exhibition of Mallorcan artists and temporary exhibitions. The Disney exhibition we visited was first class and at only 4 euro, a steal.

Fantastic Modernista style building
Jul 2019 • Couples
This museum is in the old Gran Hotel and the modernista design is fascinating. We viewed the Disney exhibit which was interesting. for those who do not speak Spanish note that there is information available in English in a free brochure provided by the museum though the works of art are only labeled in spanish and Catalan.

Very Good

A very decent gallery however at the time of my vivit it was an exhibition of Disney characcters and how the old cartoons were made. Absolutely fascinating and great to see the origianl drawings. Quite in depth - not my thing but was very interesting. Certainly worth a visit without any doubt.

Gaudi tour
May 2019 • Family
When in Mallorca we found out that the famous Catalonia Architect Antoni Gaudí was involved in a design of the chapel in the Cathedral of Mallorca.

We were also told, that Palma has a few buildings strongly influenced by Gaudi’s work and therefore reminiscent to his style. So, during our stroll through Palma’s old town we were on a lookout for the modernistic facades.

CaixaForum building (also called Fundacio la Caixa) is located between Placa Major and Passeig del Born, on Placa de Wylers 3. It is a great example of Gaudi style.

Other "Gaudi's" buildings in nearby location:
Can Forteza Rey on Carrer de Colom going (N) toward Placa Major. Its address is from Placa del Marques del Palmer 1.

Just beyond CaixaForum, going (W) toward Passeig del Born, there is Placa del Mercat. On its east side there are two modernist buildings separated by a narrow street Casta de Can Santacilia. These are Agrupacio (Placa del Mercat 13), and Purification Gar (Placa del Mercat 14). The buildings are often referred as Edifici Casasayas.

One of a kind.

If you enjoy seeing beautiful buildings, this is one of the few to see in Palma city. Also downstairs they have a cafe to sit for a drink but not much for children on the menu.

Walking tour
Apr 2019 • Couples
Another lovely building to include on a walking tour of Palma. There are plenty of special buildings to head for and this is certainly one of those, but make sure to keep looking and enjoy the less obvious, less famous ones that also add character to the city.

Make sure you look up regularly in the streets so as not to miss the gems of architect ...just astonishing how many there are. Stand still and admire the beauty of it all.

Impressive building but poor experience
Dec 2018 • Couples
We visited this museum on our last day in Palma, and I’m sad to say this was the only disappointing place we visited during our entire trip. Entry was 5 euros and we didn’t feel this was good value for money when compared to the other brilliant museums and galleries in Palma.

During our visit there was an exhibition of Ancient Greek artefacts on loan from the British Museum. Although interesting, being followed around every exhibit by members of the security team somewhat ruined the experience for us. They are also extremely militant about the order in which you are allowed to see the displays - we tried to see the ground floor exhibits first but were (quite rudely) turned away and told we had to visit the first floor first, although the reason for this was unclear. Again, this somewhat ruined the experience of browsing the exhibits at our leisure.

The exhibition of art was more enjoyable, with some very beautiful paintings. However, there were some very small paintings displayed high up on the walls, making them quite difficult to see properly. The gallery felt a little cramped compared with the other Palma art galleries we visited, where each piece is very well displayed to show its full potential.

A visit here is likely to vary depending on the exhibitions at the time, and it’s true the building is very impressive, but our experience here was much less enjoyable that at all the other places we visited during our stay. If you are short of time in Palma, I would definitely give this one a miss.
