I went to Corralejo for 3 weeks about 3-4 years ago. I went there to study but tried surfing because I was intrigued by it. I met some people who worked on the Island and they all recommended Richie from Ripcurl surf school. I am so glad that I did! I were afraid of water and I still am a terrible swimmer so Richie's careful instructions, calm manner and friendliness really made me relax in the water and I could start enjoying it. Furthermore, he is very attentive and would immediately notice if I were out of my depth. Another huge benefit is that the groups are small. I am not surprised that so many of Richie's students get surf addicted since he managed this with me (scared of water and barely a swimmer)! I recommend him to everyone who wishes to learn surfing/progress with their surfing!

I can only confirm all reviews so far are absolutely correct, there is nothing bad i can say about my experience with Rip Curl Surf school, and it has a gem of an instructor in Richie, he is a rare breed! You will come away, not only extremely chilled and happy but a much improved surfer with a better understanding of all elements of the sport due to his expertise and attention. Supportive on and off the beach his local knowledge will give you everything you want and more from your holiday. Although a package tour island there are enough places to escape to within the main hub of Corralejo & La Concha bungalows have everything you need in a chilled space and in a perfect spot. Also with me not a bad meal was had due to recommendations. I extended my holiday as i was having such a fantastic time and am itching to go back there as the tuition is worth a repeat trip but i also now have the confidence to keep on surfing when i get chance back home due the excellent grounding Richie has given me. Admittedly, I now have the bug and that comes from the amazing experience i had with Rip Curl Fuerteventura exceeding all my expectations and some, it may for me at least, now become a way of life, i didn't think a trip to Fuerteventura could be so good....... DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What can i say i had a fantastic week and a massive part of it was down to Richie and the Rip Curl surf school. You are not getting a better mentor on the island in my opinion, you will definitely come home a more round confident surfer. He covers everything you will need to know from how the sea and waves work to how to approach and surf a wave and is all ways willing to share his vast nonage. I my self only started about 8 mouths ago and did take a few lessons on a surf holiday in portugal and did not find it good at all it was like they had no interest in teaching you and just brought you to the same spot no matter what the wave was like, Were Richie wants to make you a better surfer and he watches everything you do and don't do and gives you the confidence to push your self . I can not recommend Richie and the Rip Curl surf school enough. What ever level you are at you well improve and get to see and surf different spots around the island that are working best to suit your ability. I get to surf my first reef :) and have the pictures to prove it thanks to G and Ninja Fotos catching you when you are standing up and getting knocked down. I will be going back for more pointers in the not so distant future. ps were ever he tells you to eat GO.. BOOK NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My fifth stay on the Rock Island. Always perfect conditions : warm water (wetsuit recommended!), nice beaches, and good surfing! Richie and the Rip Curl surf school technique will get you there. Step by step, you learn how to develop your skills, your muscle memory, to get on the board, and wow, finally catch a wave, get the feeling, stay low, ride, and wow, you're addicted! Richie's always attentive to your technique and will make you remember simple things : two shoulders, two knees! Small groups help also personalized lessons, and make you get where you want faster. So don't hesitate, book your lessons and enjoy sunny Fuerte, any time of year!

What a fantastic surf school! I had previously done a week learning to surf a few years ago and whilst lessons were included they were pretty useless: a bit of body boarding, then practising your 'pop' on the beach before trying (and failing) to get on a surf board whilst catching a wave. Rip Curl was totally different! Richie is an absolutely superb instructor. He builds up the technique and explains what you should be aiming for. When practising in the water he gives really useful feedback to help you improve and get the techniques. Each day each of us was a definite step further forward and we all stood and rode waves in! Amazing! If I could give Rip Curl a rating of 10 I would, but for now 5 will have to do. And there's more! We stayed in the La Concha bungalows which were excellent and Richie gave us lots of brilliant food, ice-cream and bar recommendations: in 7 days we didn't have one bad meal or cocktail. It's such a good week we're all seriously considering going back next year, and we're all self-confessed 'never go back to the same place twice' people, that's how brilliant it was!
