We visited both the largest single dome telescope on Earth the GTC awesome and the summit Roque de la Muchachos a few minutes away. You could get a feel for the incredible volcanic forces that formed the beautiful island of La Palma. Definitely worth a visit. You can drive up yourself on good but winding road on first part of... Take the time to do this difficult drive up to the highest point on the island. Amazing views. Just take in the magical surroundings. And don't forget to cover up as it's cold and windy.

First thing - the nearest toilet or place to get water is 35 minutes drive away, so be prepared! It's a great view and interesting to see the caldera and other islands in the distance, but unless you're a very serious hiker, don't bother - go to volcan san antonio instead.

Please don't attempt this hike in sandals! We saw one guy do that and he didn't make it very far, which is a shame because this hike is magnificent. We parked at the top, past the observatory. We arrived at 0930 and were the only car in the lot. It was COLD. Like, below freezing cold. We had hats but... More

Is is a long and windy road to get to the rock but it is so worth it. The trip itself is quite thrilling with hairpin bends like you cant imagine. At the top you pass the Observatory, which is fascinating, particularly for any engineers or astro physicists in the car. Then you keep on going up till you reach... More

Amazing drive up (definitely hire a car!!) and the view from the top is out of this world. We were lucky with the weather (no clouds) but this an absolute must if you go to La Palma

long hard drive to the top, great view but lots of hair pin turns. but once you get there, it is the best view i ever seen over the clouds and view of tenerife and the other islands. best place in la palma.

If you are on La Palma there are lovely sceneries to visit and see, this is one of them. Comfortable shoes are a must. Prepare yourself for a walk that is not that easy.

Shortly after picking up my first ever left hand drive hire car I found myself winding up the mountain to the top of the island. honestly , if i can do it anyone can. ideally it would have been night to be up there for the unset but to be fair its a long drive down again. Its a wonderful... More
