Located 400 metres high, on the Risco de Famara, the Mirador del Río is one of César Manrique's most representative architectural creations as it shows a series of artistic and architectural details and his eagerness to combine art and nature. It is located near the remains of an ancient military base that dates back to the end of the 19th Century. It is camouflaged on the rock in a way in which only a genius of Manrique's magnitude could conceive.

There is a charge to get in but it was worth it. Beautiful views of the sun set and the other small islands. Can get very windy at the top. Nice little cafe inside. We came out and walked to the cliff on the left of the building to get another view of the sunset- very windy again but beautiful.

Quite simply one of the most stunning views anywhere in Europe for lovers of any type of scenery, but especially for those keen on volcanoes. The cafeteria leaves a little to be desired but if it means spending a little longer enjoying the panorama...

We visited this place on our last evening on the island. As luck had it we happened to be there at sunset. The views are simply fantastic!!! The actual place closes at 18.00 in winter, so we just waited outside for the sunset and it definitely paid off.

Lovely view, especially with nice sunny weather! A great place to make some wonderful pictures. Not a place to stay for more than half an hour, but a must see when visiting the island.

Just visited the viewpoint and whilst it is stunning I can't see how it's worth the price, small cafe and the view is fabulous, but no history, geographical info etc, lots of others were walking to the side of the entrance to see the view and I'm not surprised!

Unfortunately, we arrived too late to enter, but we've seen the sunset near the belvedere point and it was absolutely breathtaking. Make sure to be there no late than 5 p.m in order to enter.

One can view the island of la garciosa and the abandoned salt plains at the bottom of the cliff. We can also see the volcanic crater in the neighbouring island. Really surreal!

Don't get me wrong the view is amazing but you can walk to the side of the official viewpoint and see the same which a lot of people were doing. We opted to go inside, €4 each is a little steep for what's on offer and the café food was nothing to write home about but we had a lovely... More

Nice way to see the other island from a good viewpoint. The entrance closed at around 5pm or 6pm. But that's not a big problem. People simply ignore the forbidden sign and get to the main viewpoint. Also it's the only option possible if you want to take photos near sunrise or sunset which are expected to be the best... More
