Large Attractive Plaza
Feb 2021 • Solo
A beautifully presented plaza with a large shallow lake where one can bathe ones feet in the centre of town..
Surrounded by large imposing buildings and a large Holy Cross.
A pleasant spot where there are cafes restaurants and bars, stores too, all nearby.

Nice open area with some interesting sights
Feb 2020
This plaza is easily located as it is very close to the marina and the ferry port with the tram track being within easy reach.
There are several monuments here with the most distinctive being the memorial to the 39 residents of the island who fought and died on Franco's side in the Civil War in the 1930s. Controversial or not it is hard to miss the memorial and with it's location on the seafront it makes a good meeting place and a good starting point when exploring the city.
The plaza is located very near the main shopping streets and there are several bars and restaurants when the sight seeing gets too much or you want a spell of people watching!

pity
Feb 2020
It was a pity that there was very little water in the pond. Probably out of season. But again it was interesting walking around.

Online everyone speaks highly about this place but there is nothing special to see. Rather spend your time somewhere else.

Fun playground
Nov 2019 • Family
We visited plaza des espagna several times during our three weeks in Santa Cruz. We were traveling with a two-year-old and a four-year-old who thought the playground was great. It was nice with sandy play areas, and climbing structures. There is also a large shallow pool where adults race model boats. It was a pleasant break during otherwise busy days of touring around.
