Beach in a privileged natural environment. Although it is not the beach for walking, there is usually enough space to play football or the local sport, palas (with rackets). Careful with the sea currents. Aim to get there as early as possible in order to...More

This is a beautiful beach a couple of km from El Sardinero heading towards El Faro (the Lighthouse). The stairs to reach the beach of Mataleñas are steep but safe. This beach is very popular during the summer, and swimming in its pristine waters can...More

We found this a superb alternative to el sardinero. So quiet and picturesque. Watch out for anything but a green flag though for swimming. I went into the sea on yellow and found it difficult to get out owing to huge waves and current. The...More

Lovely beach. Clean sands and waters. Less touristy than el sardinero. Being in a small bay, it felt snug. At the top of the stairs is an ice cream van.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. It is not nearly as crowded as nearby Sardinero beach. There is a small walk to reach the beach but well worth it!

Pretty beach with clean sand and sea. Good waves for boogie boarding and body surfing but not too fierce. Large sand area for games. Around 150 steps to get to it so not for the faint-hearted. No facilities on the beach but ice cream van...More

Huge beach, beautiful sand and picturesque rock formations. It wasn't the warmest place to walk in April, however I can see it would be very popular in the summer. I my opinion a great place for children.

This small, paradisiacal cove is located just before the Santander Lighthouse. To access the beach, you must first go down numerous steps, but before you do so, make sure you stop at one of the lookouts and admire the stunning view. You will see a...More

Most Santander locals deem beaches 1 and 2, or Somos or Bikinis, as the best beaches in Santander. It rather depends on what you want to do or experience at the beach. For me, this is the best beach because of its appearance, recessed as...More
