Charming gate

Most of the tourists pass next to it but never see it! It's just under the Mezquita Cristo de la Luz

This Moorish influenced guard tower, and still operating iron gate formed the main entry to Toledo. As such, the entry needed to be controlled and that was the role of Puerta del Sol. One can only imagine the streams of visitors over the centuries, and under what circumstances access was denied

A very photogenic fortified gateway - worth the walk, especially past the oldest (and only standing) mosque in Toledo.Unfortunately we were there before opening time, and as we were part oif a tour, time did not permit us to revisit. Next time!

You can get a close up view of the upper part of this majestic gate from the gardens of the Cristo de la Luz mosque, which overlooks it. It is close to Valmardon gate and is well worth the time exploring.

The iron gate that lifts up into the tower still works and is hanging from above. It's interesting to think about all the people that must have passed through (or been killed at the gate during siege) over the past thousand years.

We were standing and watching on this piece of architecture for quite a while, it's so beautiful in the daylight.

Built under the Mudejar style. Medium size, not too big. Very well conserved. Located on the way to Alcazar.

Impressive part of Moorish fortification. It is a thing not to be missed although you need to climb up the hill back to return to the center of the old town. However, it is close to another impressive gate, Bisagra.

Another of Toledo's beautiful gates, this my favorite. Take a moment to enjoy the unique shapes and the medallion above the entrance.

A lovely scenic historical old town, with rivers, castles, mountains, churches, lovely houses, crazy people, nice information officers, filled with historical backgrounds. In the past, Jews, Arabians, Christians have been in this place and it's a place with multi-cultural architecture, books, and statues. Most of the museums provide at most four languages, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and simple Chinese.
