Well worth a visit
Oct 2019
We were taking a bus from the nearby bus station and decided to use the time to visit this excellent museum. The staff were charming and stored our cases for us ( there are no lockers in the bus station) and also we got free admission as it was Spain’s National Day. The building is lovely with a central courtyard and a new building added on . There are some fascinating exhibits.

Wonderful old Building the museum is in, and they have a very comprehensive collection of mainly archeological ‘things’ found in digs around Burgos. It’s free, give it a go, Salida1048

Excellent early Christian art collection
Oct 2018 • Couples
This museum has 2 distinct parts, one is the archaeological section, which is rather old fashioned, but houses some nice pre-Roman and Roman objects, as well as a great statue of Isis and some parts of excellent mosaics. The 2nd part is the art museum, which houses the real reason to visit the museum, the early Christian artefacts, from an ivory casket to the panels of the reliquary of St Dominucus. After that, there is a good Flemish and local art collection, going to the 20th century. Very well worth the 1 euro entrance fee.

15 Century Museo Full of special art and history!!
Oct 2017 • Couples
This Museo is on Calle Mirando and off the main track. This museo has great art from--15th to 17th Century. All kinds of unique things including the the "Sword" El Cid won in Battle in Valencia against the King of Morocco. The three siglos of paintings...some of the best artists from Spain....lots of stone works, bronze, coins etc for these times. 5 Stories in an old palace. People there to explain and answer questions on each level. This is a don't miss place to visit...1 euro most days. Highly recommend!!

Old school, chock full of stuff
Aug 2017 • Solo
No glitzy displays here, just cases and cases of cool stuff, all from digs around Burgos. Emphasis was on prehistory and the Roman period.

Very Good Art
Sep 2016 • Couples
The Burgos Museum occupies 3 noble houses and features sections of prehistory, archaeology, and fine arts. The alabaster tomb of Don Juan de Padilla is a masterpiece created by Gil de Siloe.

No English Captions
May 2016 • Couples
What a pity that this collection of historic artifacts has no English explanations. It misses a good opportunity to educate non Spanish speaking visitors about the history of this area. Also half the museum is art...not history.
