Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture...

Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture has been around the world: a unique fairy tale-like palace that brings together architectural tastes of different monarchs. It tells -to all those who come to know it- ancient palatial stories. Austere, as they were the Castilian kings, raised on the rock at the confluence of the valleys of the rivers Eresma and Clamores, the Alcázar seems to watch over the city. Its beautiful Tower keep, often compared to the bow of a boat sailing between the two rivers, is of a stunning beauty. Tourists are amazed to realize that the fortress is a living part of this Castilian city, chosen as a place of residence for many of the monarchs of the Trastámara dynasty.

This is a wonderful place to visit. It is like you are in a fairytale. It is the most amazing castle which was built as a fortress. It was surrounded by two rivers. Buy an audio guide as it gives you a good description of the Alcazar. The 12th century doors on the treasury are worth looking at.

The Alcazar at Segovia occupies a remarkable site and is well worth a visit. It's history and contents are very well described in the audio guide. A visit needs lt least an hour preferably an hour and a half. It is a down hill walk from the plaza major but the return may be difficult for those with walking impairment.... More

From what my daughters tell me this castle was what inspired Walt Disneys castle at Disneyland. I guess he visited the castle many times. We enjoyed the castle a lot and could definitely visualize as a great place to have lived back in the day. Climbing the tower was quite the steep hike. I think a total of 150 steps... More

Don't leave Segovia without going to see the Alcazar. The audio guide is great to get the most out of your visit. If you want to go up the tower you need to buy a separate ticket. I missed that when I bought my ticket and the queue was so long when I went back that I didn't want to... More

The alcazar de segovia is incredible for the views alone. It truly is in an unbelievable location and so beautiful. The audioguide tour was fine but taking one of the guided tours (with an actual human) would have been better (there are plenty of guides in segovia that would love to show you the historic alcazar). It made for a... More

The alcazar is wondrous. The stones, the height of it and the details were amazing. The moat around the castle gave you a bit of vertigo as you peer over the stone walls. The interior and the stories and history were amazing. The armor, palace rooms and the coffered ceilings were spectacular. A tour to here and the whole city... More

This really is a very cool castle and will give you all those fairytale vibes. The inside is pretty with lots of gorgeous carved and painted ceilings - so don't forget to look up! **TIP** if you want that "classic" view of the castle book your tour with a small group or do it on your own. The bridge where... More

Get ready to be in awe! We did the audio tour and it was excellent- so much history associated with this castle even though it was rebuilt after a fire.

Legend states that the Alcazar de Segovia was the inspiration for the castle that Walt Disney designed for Disneyland. While that is doubtful, what isnt in doubt is the stunning beauty of the castle. Rooms filled and furnished in historic splendor, it is a must see for any visitor to Segovia
