We visited the Vall de Boi for hiking ant to visit the romanesque churches. They are unique and well worth a visit. You need to check opening times especially outside main season. Tucked away in the remote Vail de Boi, these restored churches, built in the 11th and 12th centuries, have survived all these centuries because they were so isolated. We researched and then visited about 8 of the World Heritage Catalan Romanesque churches in late May. Various wild flowers were in bloom which added to the enjoyment or taking photos, but we were disappointed to learn that the churches are only open on certain days of the month for very limited hours. I visited Vall de Boi in June 2010 jjust to see the small villages with their old stonehouses and for hiking. The villages were marvelous and the hiking possibilities very good with lots of flowers in June. For more details visit my webbsite [-------]
