Description:

Steel Donkeys are the first and only alternative bike rides of Barcelona!...

Steel Donkeys are the first and only alternative bike rides of Barcelona! We're not about historic facts and the same daily routines that characterise other bike tours. We're about getting on a bike and exploring the hidden corners of the city, like flea markets, futuristic skyscrapers, vintage shops, secret courtyards and local beaches...Our guides are young, knowledgeable locals who were either born in Barcelona or have lived here for several years. We like to talk about the real experience of life in the city, modern politics, culture and stories. But most of all we like to have a fun relaxing day out on a bike with our new friends... you! We ride with a maximum of 8 people, although most tours are private... so you'll never feel like just another tourist on the treadmill. See you in Barcelona!

We have taken bike tours in Madrid and Seville and this was by far the best. In fact we signed up for a private tour the next day. Our guide Milos is an architect which added an extra layer of interest to the tour. This tour goes to places I guess other tours do not get to. A great way... More

Mari Carmen our tour guide was delightful. This is the perfect way to get yourself familiar with Barcelona and not all of the tourist traps. We booked a private tour for Four. Four hours of fun, interesting sights. Mari is very well informed and interesting. And a bit of exercise thrown in. Great tour. Highly Recommend. Remember Mari Carmen!!

We had a tour with Maria this week. We've visited Barcelona a few times so had pretty much exhausted the popular tourist sites. We wanted to see something different so we booked this tour. It lasted 4 hours and was thoroughly enjoyable- we particularly enjoyed our visit to the historical liquor store and found the interior and the owners very... More

We really enjoyed our tour and especially our tour guide Maria. As promised Steel Donkey does not take you to the Sangrada Familia or other major sites,.. instead you get a glimpse of how real Barcelona citizens may live with some hint as to what recent changes have made to their lives. Prior to this tour I was unclear how... More

We enjoyed the city tour on bike. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the city and it's facts. Was a small group size, which was ideal for this type of tour. Bikes were in good shape and length of tour seemed perfect.

If you're in town for the first time and do not know anyone with the locals , this trip is a great idea for a preliminary recognition the city. In 4 hours I could with good company figured out some of the quarters of the city ( not only turistic places). I was lucky that on this day there were... More

i don't like leaving bad reviews and rarely do so. unfortunately i have to do so here. we had booked a private bike tour weeks before our trip. i received a confirmatory email a few days later, then about a week after that received a second confirmatory email (from a different person). we arrived at the meeting place (local bike... Hi Joe Indeed, this one was our bad completely. In fact it was a technical problem. Our guide managed to access an old version of our calendar so they did not see that they were due for a tour. We have since improved our system so that this particular error can't happen again! Really sorry that this error happened to... More

Maria was our outstanding tour guide! She took us on a private tour for my 73 year old old dad and me. Her description of neighborhoods, knowledge of local eateries and customs, and willingness to stop for pictures every time we asked made her a fantastic guide! This was a truly fun way to see Barcelona for someone who doesn't... More

A very enjoyable tour that I would recommend to anyone visiting Barcelona for a few days or a week. Thanks to our very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide Maria, we found that the tour was great for finding out more about the city itself in terms of its history and how it came to be the way it is today,... Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
