I am quiet excited about Zoos and hence decided to have a stop at the Barcelona Zoo as one of the stops during my hop on hop off tour. The entrance to the Zoo is a good 10 minutes walk from the stop. While I enjoyed my visit, it is recommended to families with children. The Zoo isn't that large... More

We went to Barcelona Zoo on a cold, rainy day in January 2017. This zoo was also in the midst of significant renovations which meant that a number of the exhibitions were shut or under development. The day was a bit cold and rainy so many of the animals were sheltering in their enclosures. The zoo does have a significant... More

Waited half an hour to stand on a balcony where you could look down and see a dolphin totally still in a tiny pen. Left the place feeling guilty for paying over the odds to see so many miserable animals in tiny, confined spaces. Quite visibly uncomfortable. The place needs closing down. Awful.

Try to visit this place if you have visited the other "must see"in Barcelona. It is a quiet and cool place accessible with metro.

Firstly this zoo is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside so make sure you grab a map as there are a few twists and turns. This zoo can absorb half a day and is great for kids and adults. Some of the birds are very entertaining, wish there was a bench as you can sit watching them... More

Going in January I did expect the zoo to be quieter, which it was. A few of the enclosures were closed due to reconstruction (dolphins and elephants) which was a little disappointing but I suppose they have to maintain and upgrade areas for the animals. Like any zoo, some enclosures were large and you could tell the animals were happy... More

Nice day to visit, lots of attractions shut for renovation. No dolphins! Hired electric cart which kids lived.

We took our 7 and 9 year olds to this zoo. The zoo is convenient to get to via train direct from Barcelona Sants train station and via the metro as well. The zoo has lots of animals in a fairly large layout with nice walking paths to get to each area. There is a dolphin show which was nice,... More

We spent a number of hours wandering around the zoo, and there were very few other people here. I guess this was in the middle of off season as there was a lot of construction happening and the majority of the animals were out of sight in their indoor enclosures. As others have stated the cost of entry isn't too... More

Staying in Ciutadella / Vila Olimpica

Neighbourhood Profile
Ciutadella / Vila Olimpica
The sounds of Marina Olympica's rocking boats and clicking mastheads swaying to and fro set an impressive backdrop for Ciutadella and Villa Olimpica. Follow the aromas of garlic, wine, and fresh local fish to the various restaurants running along the marina. A grand bronze fish statue soaring high above serves as a beacon to those searching for the renowned Casino Barcelona or the extremely popular nightclubs which practically lie on the beach itself.
