Came during winter on a weekday afternoon. Not packed at all. It is a nice and quick getaway from the busy Barcelona city. Easy access from the metro. There were a couple of sand artists. Very amazing sculpturing skills and artwork. The vibe in summer must be different.

We were not here in the season, so it's difficult to assess how it is here in the summer? The view is very beautiful, there are many people in February, all breathe fresh sea air and enjoy the seascapes.

My partner and I stopped for twenty minutes or so to rest our feet. You need to visit to take some beautiful pictures. Avoid eye contact with the sellers, the prices are ridiculous. A perfect place to eat your lunch. It was funny seeing people sunbathing in bikinis and then others wrapped up in hats, scarfs and coats.

Very enjoyable, but very busy. Not ideal for children. I would walk further along to the other end where the beach is quieter. The water is not shallow either. It deepens very quickly and is not great for kids to paddle in. But we enjoyed it all the same.

So lived in a tourist apartment near the beach for four months, and I was always pleasantly impressed by the number of activities (biking, scootering, surfing, rollerblading, relaxing) were going on simultaneously without anybody getting unpleasant. And the city of Barcelona does a great job of keeping the area clean. If you're hungry or thirsty, you'll find very good restaurants... More

I don't know if maybe the tide was up on the beach too far when I was here ... But the beach was overcrowded, the surf dropped off to neck deep in like 3 steps, and there wasn't a great deal to see. I'd take Valencia's beach over it any day of the week.

As city breaks go you wouldn't normally expect a beach to be a place to visit but Barcelona offers a great one a 15/20 min walk from the city centre. Weekends can be busy with volleyball nets so get there early if you're making a day of it.

Leaving the crowds behind, the beaches offer a lovely place to regroup. Collecting sea glass along the shore was calming after the busy Barcelona streets.

I wish it would have been warmer to jump in! There was plenty to do there. I just hated all the street sellers. Just have to becareful with your stuff. a few shady people walking around trying to sell you things. They seem very sketchy and one of them even got close and offered us drugs but for the most... Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
